Morris County was founded in 1738, encompassing 39 municipalities and is the 7th largest county in land area. The county was a leading producer of iron ore in the 1800s. A very notable historical accomplishment is that the barn in which Samuel Morse experimented with his invention of the telegraph still stands today in Morristown. The very first successful message sent read “A patient waiter is no loser” [1].
